Why Chiropractic Care is a Preventative Health Option

It seems that preventing something or getting an early diagnosis would be the preferable plan of action. Not only is prevention a lot less painful, but it is less expensive in the long run.

Various types of preventative care are:

  • Immunizations
  • Physical exams
  • Lab work
  • Various health screenings
  • Regular chiropractic care

Many people don’t include chiropractic care in the category of preventative health options, but it is, and here’s why…

Chiropractic care can be broken down into 2 categories:

  1. Acute – This is when your chiropractor will treat you because you are currently experiencing musculoskeletal pain.
  2. Preventative – Also referred to as maintenance care. This is care that is scheduled periodically, similar to dental cleanings or health physicals.

Part of the reason that preventative chiropractic care is so important, is because people often neglect the body’s structural system, which includes, the spinal column, bones, ligaments, muscles and tendons. As we age (but not limited to aging), it is shown that the most common cause of disability in people over 50 years old relates to a spinal disorder, an unhealthy spine, which typically results in back and neck pain.

Rather than having regular chiropractic treatments, that keep the back in alignment, people wait until their “back goes out” before seeking treatment…it”s more painful and more expensive to correct.
